Sooo, what’s up with ya?!

Sooo, what’s up with ya?!

It has been a minute since my last post. Like most people I know, I’ve been following the horrific crimes against black folks that continue day after day, week after week, month after month. I’m discouraged and encouraged at the same time. I do believe the youth will make a difference and be a part of healing and changing the world. At least that’s my prayer.

Our lives have been totally interrupted. Some have lost so much including loved ones, employment, food security, and normal daily routines. We are truly living in a new day and time. For me, it has been important to establish new habits in this new normal and stay busy! I’m busy doing things that will uplift me and the people around me. I’m busy building a new future for myself. I’m busy building a legacy. There’s nothing anyone else can promise me when this pandemic is over but there are promises I can make to myself. This is the perfect time to complete those projects, write those business plans, and follow those passions we never had time to do. I have a few passions and one is photography. This has been a hobby since college and I studied photography as part of my undergraduate degree. So much has changed since the late 90’s so I had to re-teach (is that a word?) myself starting from the basics! Back then we didn’t have all the extensive editing options that we have today. Anyway…. I turned my passion into a business in 2019. I can see my work improving with each click and I’m proud of myself. My other passion is cooking and I’ve had tons of time to cook since the Rona invaded all of our lives. In fact I cook almost every day.

This is the time for YOU to pick up those old passions and hobbies and refine and/or perfect them. When we come out of this pandemic the racial injustices will still be here. It is more important than ever for minorities and women to own and operate our businesses. It’s time to come together as a community and support each other. After all, it takes a whole village, right?
