Here Comes Mary Jane!

Here Comes Mary Jane!

Mary Jane is one hell of a lady. People have gone to jail for her and even made a song about her (RIP to Rick James).

I’m in love with Mary Jane.

She’s my main thing.

She makes me feel alright.

She makes my heart sing.

And when I’m feeling low,

She comes as no surprise.

Turns me on with her love.

Takes me to paradise, do you love me Mary Jane?

-Rick James

So who is Mary Jane?

We’re talking about dope, weed, and pot. Black and brown people have been criminalized for decades for the use and distribution of marijuana. All of a sudden it’s called by its “government name” Cannabis. Why? Because it’s slowly being legalized state to state… for legal purchase and profit.

Recently Trish Cyrus was photographed next to a cabinet full of weed, or in her case cannabis. I assume this amount of weed is legal to have wherever this photo was taken. We all know if this was me or someone who looks like me, I’d still be trying to prove my innocence.

It’s time for us to be on the other side of the steel bars (not incarcerated) and profit. Did you know, depending on your state laws, you can legally become the CEO of your own cannabis company? I am by far not an expert on this topic but for some time now I’ve followed someone who is. Dasheeda Dawson is The Weed Head ™. She is the Founder, CEO & president of MJM Strategy, a digital-focused strategy and management consulting firm in the cannabis industry and the author of How to Succeed in the Green Rush. She is also one of a very few African American women CEOs in the cannabis industry. I encourage you to visit her site to learn more about her and this soon to be booming industry.

Health Benefits

Although people have been criminalized for the smallest amount of weed as if it’s the most dangerous street drug, it actually has some health benefits. This is called medical marijuana. Again, weed! So what is medical marijuana? It is basically the same as recreational marijuana and comes from the marijuana plant and chemicals. The difference is it is taken for medical purposes. Depending on your state, you must have a medical marijuana card to legally purchase and possess medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is used to treat many ailments including glaucoma, PTSD, cancer, epilepsy, and more. For more info on medical marijuana visit Medical Marijuana FAQs.

What do you think? Should marijuana be legalized?
